Did you get a Digital SLR camera for Christmas or  Mother’s Day and you don’t know where to begin?  All of those buttons can be a little intimidating.  Join me as I can help you figure out all of those “fancy” buttons and get you on the road to taking better pictures.  Get out of auto mode and lets get you making the most of what you have!

WHO:  This class is for beginners (parents, grandparents, teens, etc.) who would like to better understand their camera and all that it has to offer—to take better photos. This class if not intended for those who are trying to start a photography business or for those who have a business already.

WHEN & WHERE:  TBD  (June or July)  The date and time will be determined once I get a count of how many individuals are interested. It would consist of one 3-4 hour session on a Saturday or Sunday.

COST:   $85.  This amount will include hands on training, one-on-one question and answer time with each attendee, snacks, notes, and more.

WHAT TO BRING:  Your Digital SLR camera, camera manual, and a pen!

HOW TO JOIN:  Email me at jennifer@jenniferpharr.com if you are interested in joining.  Please put DIGITAL SLR WORKSHOP in the subject line of your email.  **The class size will be limited to accommodate a better learning environment.**   10  6 spots available

A FEW THINGS TO BE COVERED:  a. Understanding your camera functions–What does the flower mean? How do I know when to shoot out of auto mode?   b. You will learn how to better compose your photos—(Ex: cropping in camera).  c. I will teach you a few tips (that I have learned to be successful) on archiving your images and backing them up.  d. You will learn how to find the most flattering natural light when shooting. e.  There will also be time for hands on training—-we’ll head outside and have a subject available to practice all that will be taught the first half of the class.  f. The day will end with Q & A time.

Remember, seating is limited so if you think that you might be interested, please email me so that I can get a general idea of how many people would like to join in on this workshop.

….Friday Favorites….

I love taking pictures at the beach—-capturing little ones playing in the sand, families enjoying themselves on vacation… I could go on and on.   Down here in the South it gets really hot in the summertime.  I have found that scheduling beach sessions before July and August seems to work best.  Little ones get fussy and impatient when they are hot and sweating.  Not to mention, and to be honest, dads aren’t the most excited about family portraits in the first place, so we don’t want dad getting hot at all!:)

I am now booking sessions for Memorial Day weekend and Memorial Day in the Orange Beach and Gulf Shores areas.  Please contact me if you are interested in scheduling a session for your children or for family photos.  I only have two spots left—-so message me quickly if you are interested.

Heather + James: Engaged

I had the pleasure of photographing Heather and James in Orange Beach a few weekends ago.  They were both on Spring Break from college and I cannot think of a better place to be to relax than at the beach!  They are such a sweet couple and so in love!:) Just listening to all of the plans and ideas that they have for their wedding day….it’s going to be beautiful.  We thought that we might be fighting with the rain the day of their session, but as soon as I began shooting that evening the rain went away.

James and Heather are a little competitive when it comes to playing Scrabble.  I loved the idea of incorporating something that they love to do together into their engagement session.  Heather also let me in on a little secret…..she let’s James win sometimes!;)

I had a blast with you two and cannot wait to shoot your wedding in November!

Monograms….

I never imagined that I would see the day when monogrammed jewelry would once again be so popular.  As a child I had a ring, necklace, bracelet, hair bows, you name it….all monogrammed with my initials. I actually still have all of those items. Monogramming is definitely a “Southern thing” and is very popular to add to any wedding right now.

Today I wanted to share a few monogrammed pieces of jewelry that I have found online and really love. Jewelry can make a great bridesmaids gift, flower girl gift, or even a special something to send to someone as a thank you for their services.
